Raketu Launches Lite Version of VoIP Desktop Application

Raketu releases Raketu Lite, the light version of the company’s VoIP calling desktop application. Raketu Lite can be downloaded directly from www.Raketu.com, was developed specifically for those consumers interested solely in Raketu’s leading edge VoIP calling features, including Global IM/SMS and email capabilities. The new application’s “Slim” interface is Raketu’s Lite version of Raketu’s full-featured LaunchPad Desktop application, which also integrates IPTV streamed video and VOD entertainment content.

VoIP Software ScreenPop Can Block Outbound Calls

Arcosoft announces the update to VONaLink ScreenPop. ScreenPop works with any VoIP phone system based on the open SIP standard, such as Vonage or Asterisk, to prevent the dialing out of any phone number, including long distance and toll calls. Nortel Inks Deal with Clearwire to Provide Residential VoIP Services

Nortel has signed a contract with wireless broadband pioneer Clearwire to deliver a complete carrier VoIP solution to provide a residential VoIP service to Clearwire's U.S. customers. Nortel will also provide services to Clearwire from its Global Services portfolio, including network engineering, multi-vendor network integration, network deployment and support.

Clearwire's Internet Phone Service is currently available in 37 of the company's 46 markets in the U.S. and works with their customers' existing high-speed Internet access to provide unlimited local and long-distance calling from a regular telephone. The Nortel solution will provide end-to-end carrier VoIP infrastructure for Clearwire's Internet Phone Service, while laying the foundation for Clearwire to easily evolve their network to potentially deliver converged fixed and mobile services.

SupportSave to Expand its use of Packet8's Virtual Office

8x8, Inc.Packet8 videophone and mobile VoIP communication services announce a receipt of a new order from SupportSave Solutions. The order calls for SupportSave to expand its use of 8x8's Packet8 Virtual Office hosted iPBX phone services over the next year, improving the company's in-house telecommunications network.

Under the terms of the order, SupportSave will increase the usage of Packet8's iPBX solution from seventy-five phone lines to more than 150 extensions over the next ninety days. Using Packet8's technology, SupportSave expects to have five hundred to one thousand networked lines in service within the next twelve months.
