Verizon Helps U.S. Troops in Iraq Call Mom and Dad

Verizon FreedomIn an ongoing effort to help military families and loved ones stay connected around the world, Verizon Business is providing free phone calls during the weeks around Mother's Day, Father's Day and U.S. Independence Day for U.S. military personnel stationed in Iraq.

Verizon Business will provide the free calls from May 10-16 in honor of Mother's Day in the United States; June 14-20 for Father's Day in the United States; and July 1-7 for U.S. Independence Day.

Verizon Business has deployed to Iraq a state-of-the-art mobile communications facility, enabling military personnel to make calls 24-hours-a-day anywhere in the world.

As a leading communications provider to the federal government and the Department of Defense for nearly two decades, Verizon Business leverages its leading-edge technology and global capabilities to support military personnel and their families around the world throughout the year. The company has provided free telephone calls for Iraq-based U.S. Armed Forces personnel for major holidays during the last four years.

In addition, Verizon Business supports the USO of Metropolitan Washington, which provides services and programs free-of-charge to enhance the military community's quality of life.

Verizon Business is a USO-Metro Partner at the USO International Gateway Lounge at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, as well as the newly opened USO Lounge at Washington Dulles International Airport. The company also has teamed with the USO of Metropolitan Washington as the Premier Partner of the new USO Lounge at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. That lounge is expected to open later this year. Verizon Business is the first USO-Metro Partner to provide financial support to the USO lounges in all three area airports.

In addition to providing funding for the lounges, Verizon Business also supports the lounges with free phone calling anywhere in the world via wireless phones using Verizon VoIP service.
