VoIP and Internet Services in the Seattle Area

To introduce cost-competitive VoIP and Internet services for communities in the Seattle area, Mason County-based Hood Canal Communications (HCC) has selected Incognito Software’s multimedia device provisioning solution, Broadband Command Center.

Located two hours from Seattle, HCC serves more than 5,000 subscribers in a relatively isolated region surrounded by the Olympic Mountains to the west and Puget Sound to the east, with a population density of only 50 people per square mile. The ability to automatically and remotely activate service is key to minimizing subscriber activation costs and providing better customer service.

Neil Jones, Internet Systems Manager at HCC, is excited to launch VoIP and multimedia services in Mason County, giving subscribers the same options that exist in major cities. “Our goals were to enhance customer service: reduce the number of steps it takes to bring customers online, and speed up the deployment of IP telephony and multimedia services,” said Jones. “Incognito’s combination of product feature set, affordable price, and great technical support before and after our purchasing decision made all the difference. We were able to achieve our goals within budget, minimizing our investments in systems and resources and cutting the costs to provision customer premise equipment.”

HCC manages a wide range of subscribers: 3,500 cable TV and 2,700 Internet subscribers, as well as 2,000 phone subscribers via an ILEC and CLEC. HCC needed a provisioning system that could support their new ARRIS embedded multimedia terminal adapters (eMTAs) and also interface with their billing system. Incognito’s Broadband Command Center™ delivered on those needs, and included a subscriber management module that allowed customer service representatives to easily make changes to subscriber records.

Patricia Steadman, CEO of Incognito, underscores why the solution is ideal for small- to medium-sized service providers and NCTC members. “We are pleased at the success HCC is experiencing in deploying their services. This is a great example of how an economical, easy-to-install, easy-to-integrate solution like Broadband Command Center™ can allow rural and community operators to quickly offer the most technologically advanced services.”

The Broadband Command Center™ Appliance is now available from Incognito Software. For more information, visit http://www.incognito.com/products/BroadbandCommandAP/overview.jsp.
