Streamcore Software Guarantees Success of Large VoIP Deployments

Streamcore released its 5.2 software for its StreamGroomer appliances and centralized management. The new software offers enhanced capabilities for managing and measuring end users’ quality of experience at branch offices.

Enterprise Can Guarantee Success of VoIP / Unified Communications Deployments

Streamcore solutions are already widely used by enterprises to guarantee VoIP performance by automatically prioritizing VoIP flows competing with other types of traffic. However, Streamcore’s new release provides VoIP quality measurements including both technical measurements such as latency, jitter and packet loss and an aggregate mean opinion score (MOS), which measures overall VoIP quality. The new measurements help IT staffs to quickly detect and resolve any degradation in VoIP quality in real time (last 10 seconds) and to be proactive in capacity planning to ensure that VoIP performs well over time based on historical measurements. Streamcore’s VoIP measurements are highly flexible with statistics available for any individual conversations as well as more comprehensive information such as branch office performance comparisons.

The 5.2 release also improves traffic management for enterprise branch offices that have two redundant access links. Traffic can be load balanced per session or per application over the two access links (e.g., offloading an MPLS network by exchanging some of the traffic securely over the Internet). In the event that an access link fails, the StreamGroomer appliance will apply a backup quality of service policy to reprioritize network traffic over the remaining access link. By making the dual access link environment easier to manage, enterprises can avoid network downtime and guarantee consistent performance for critical business applications despite a link failure.

Help Desk Staffs Can Leverage New StreamMap for Quicker Problem Identification

The new software also provides StreamMap, a graphical display of live performance based on Google Maps technology. StreamMap shows real-time alarms, link utilization, VoIP and application performance per site or per geographic region. StreamMap, which can be easily configured by simply entering the physical addresses of the sites to be monitored and controlled, is very useful to help desk staffs for quickly locating and resolving network problems.
