TCS Using Acme Packet for Secure VoIP E9-1-1 Connections

Acme Packet, the leader in session border control solutions, announced TeleCommunication Systems, Inc., a leading provider of mission critical wireless communications, is using Acme Packet's Net-Net session border controllers (SBCs) to securely deliver its VoIP E9-1-1 location information routing and delivery solution.

The Acme Packet solution securely connects managed VoIP providers to TCS' Internet Protocol (IP) network using numerous features from Acme Packet Net-SAFE, the industry's most comprehensive security framework for SBCs. Access control, topology hiding and DoS protection against both signaling and media attacks and overloads are some of the specific features used to protect TCS' E9-1-1 service infrastructure.

"Acme Packet's selection by major VoIP providers in the US ensures instant interoperability for our VoIP E9-1-1 calling service. It enables TCS and our VoIP service provider customers to comply with the FCC VoIP E9-1-1 mandate," said Dan Allen, Senior Vice President for Service Bureau Operations for TeleCommunication Systems. "Even more importantly long-term, the unique ability of the Acme Packet SBC to protect itself against DoS attacks assures the availability, survivability and responsiveness of our service in emergency situations."

"TCS is strategic and innovative in its approach to the delivery of location-based emergency services" said Andy Ory, president and CEO, Acme Packet. "We welcome the opportunity to support TCS' solutions and protect the next-generation E9-1-1 service in the United States."
