VoIP Services Reach Iraq; Connecting Familes and Troops

RNK Telecom announced its Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network has extended to Iraq, providing digital voice services to U.S. Soldiers stationed there. RNKVoIP enables U.S. Troops to make unlimited calls to their families and friends in the U.S.

"U.S. Troops want to reach out and touch their families, and RNKVoIP stands strong and ready to connect them," said Richard N. Koch, President of RNK Telecom. "With RNKVoIP, U.S. Soldiers can make unlimited calls to anywhere in the U.S. free of charge."

RNK is providing VoIP equipment and connectivity via the Freedom Calls Foundation for use at Camp Taji, just 23 miles northwest of Baghdad. The equipment connects the Camp's telephones to the Foundation's satellite network, enabling over 1500 U.S. Troops that pass through Camp Taji daily to make unlimited calls to their U.S. homes. The calls are free of charge and available 24 hours a day. RNK and the Foundation are also providing similar services to Camp Fallujah and the Al Asad Airbase.

"We praise RNK for its generous donation and its eagerness to help the Foundation and our troops," said John B. Harlow II, co-founder and executive director of Freedom Calls Foundation. "Thanks to companies like RNK, the Foundation is able to provide a network that offers soldiers more than 8,000 miles away the opportunity to participate in milestone family events such as births, birthdays, weddings and school graduations."

Since 2003, RNK has donated over 100 million minutes of domestic and international phone calls to U.S. soldiers and their families via its Connect for Freedom plan.
