KONNECT Office Phone System

Aksys Networks announces its KONNECT Office Phone System, the first serverless full-featured telephone system for small offices that operates standalone, requiring no additional equipment. The simplicity of connecting multiple offices together will transform small businesses.

KONNECT fills an important need for businesses seeking the benefits of VoIP, but that are wary of business interruptions. Most small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) aren’t willing to rely solely on Internet connections for their phones, because cable modem and ADSL services experience outages from time to time, which can prevent or terminate important calls. In addition, many offices aren’t ready yet to trust their main inbound number to VoIP technology. With KONNECT, offices can continue using their existing telco lines and use VoIP for free interoffice calls, selecting either VoIP or the public switched telephone network (PSTN) for outbound calls. In this manner, KONNECT offers offices the best of the old and new.

Enhanced Bandwidth Management

Collax announced expanded bandwidth management of the Collax Security Gateway. The UTM solution in Version 4.0.10 prioritizes and guarantees bandwidths in Virtual Private Networks; giving Voice-over-IP (VoIP), and other critical business applications such as ERP systems, priority in the VPN tunnel.

The Collax Security Gateway 4.0.10 offers all the premises to enable VoIP in company networks. The Tagged-VLAN technology (according to 802.1q) ensures that data packages are separated from voice packages thereby guaranteeing the security of internet telephony. The SIP-based Voice-Traffic is analyzed via Stateful Inspection. Combined with Traffic Shaping, these technologies ensure that the voice packages are filtered at the right part of the gateways and are offered priority in the VPN tunnel, before any other data streams. Thus a superior quality of real time voice transfer across data networks is achieved without downtime.
