There service is horrible. The line cuts out. Nobody returns their emails, and the last time I talked to a live person was the day I signed up for their service

If you are considering Viopgo I would stay away. I have been in a state of limbo since opening an account with them over 3 months ago. I have tried to do a number port. Initally I was told that it would take about 2 weeks. My area code was unavaliable to port. They told me to call back in two weeks and I should be able to do it. I did so, they said yes I can port. I asked them to send me the required forms. Never recieved anything. Live chat a week later got me the forms. From that point on things went completely south. I submitted the port request. This was about 7/30/07. Called back about a week later to make sure they have everything they needed. Can't get anyone on the phone. Tried the next day, again no answer. sat on hold 2 hours and was disconnected. tried live support, no answer. Ok now i am getting frustrated. The website clearly states 24/7 support! I finally get someone on live support about 8/25/07. I had tried at least 6 times on the phone, and not once was i able to get through to anyone. When i finally got the guy on 8/2507 he says he can't answer my question as to when the number will be ported. OK i can be patient here but the last guy told me two weeks and it has been over 3 weeks since i sent the form can you give me any indication as to how far along in the process i am? Sorry I can't answer. He goes on to say that if he tries to call the phone company to check he will be on hold for mabye 2 hours. OK I say well can you tell me why that is? he says they are flooded with new sunrocket customers and that ports are taking about 37 days. OK now I am getting some info! If it is 37 days then so be it. I can appreciate that they are busy and may be flooded with calls. I can also appreciate that they are dealing with porting a number away from another company and thus removing revenue from them, so that company may not be all that coopertive. I ask what day they submitted my paperwork. He tells me 8/14/07. OK so my paperwork sat around for 2 weeks before it made it into the que. So I ask If that is the case then I can expect to see my number ported on or about 9/20/07 right? He says yes it should be by then. Now I sit back and wait patiently. OK fast forward to 9/22/07 my wife is getting pretty pissed that nothing is happening so i try to call voipgo. No answer no message. just a black hole when i chose my selection. I try this several times that night still nothing. I try live support. Nobody comes on. Next day I try phone calls, live support and an email. No response to anything. repeat the next day. and the next. I have opened an emergency ticket. no response and it was closed. I open a high priority ticket on 9/27/07. no response. nobody even appears to have looked at it. I sat on hold in the support department for over 5 hours on 3 different calls yesterday. Disconnected twice and finally hung up. Tried to call billing to discuss. no answer. emailed billing. no answer. Now i am over 45 days since my port was requested. All I want is some info! and email will suffice. Anything really!

Now i am in limbo. If I cancel this account my number will probably port the next day, and I will lose the number I am trying to keep. If you are considering this company look elsewhere. I went with this company based on the strength of reviews about thier customer service. Those were a complete falsification or something drastic has changed. Customer Service is basically non existant at this company. If you ever need them your on your own! BEWARE!!!!!

I had a similar experience to Scott, absolutely horrible service. After two months of having the service (by having I mean paying for, not being able to use) I finally got in touch with a person. After being very mean to her, I was finally able to talk to the Customer Service Manager, Peter. First, he called me back three hours late and said no one answers the phone because they have too many customers. After yelling at him for about 20 minutes, he agreed to send me a new ATA (their PAP2) because mine wouldn't work with their service even though I sat on hold for two hours before (bad sign!) I even had the service to ask them if it would work. They said yes.

Well, it has been two weeks since that call, no PAP2 at my door. Still waiting. I have five critical level tickets in which I keep replying to so they know I am waiting for their call. If you do not already have them, DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER, GET VOIPGO!! TELL YOUR FRIENDS! THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LYING, LAZY, NON-TECHNICAL CLOWNS WHO DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!

These people do not respond to technical support request. They don't answer their phones. They don't answer their emails. At first I had great luck with their online support, now they don't respond to it. STAY AWAY.... STAY FAR FAR AWAY....

I agree with everyone above. They are impossible to be reached. Their service doesn't work all the time; sometimes people can't reach you, the other time you cannot call out. Caller ID doesn't work, call forwarding feature is useless... NO VOIP SERVICE IS WORSE THAN VOIPGO.

Hey All!
Yea I know what all of you are talking about, but I think they really got affected after the Sunrocket meltdown.
I stuck through with them and I am glad I did.
There customer service has greatly improved and they even changed up their website. Seems like they are moving forward.
I dealt with CS twice and both times they were very helpful.
Can't complain.
Steve.

I switched to VoipGO from Sunrocket in August and have been mostly satisfied.
Initially, they placed me on an overflow server that must have been located in Canada because I couldn't dial some 888/877/800 numbers in the USA. I contacted customer support who explained that I would be moved to a new server in the USA in a few weeks. This wasn't a big issue for me because I had the local numbers to dial rather than toll-free. Free unlimited long distance is nice.
Then they moved me to a new server before telling me. My phone stopped working unexpectedly. 2 hours later, I had an email explaining the new settings, but my ATA stopped working. I purchased a new ATA after troubleshooting/chatting with CS for about 90 minutes. That ATA was installed, but hasn't worked for the voice channel - this was the ssme issue with the old SR ATA. Oddly, X-Lite works perfectly.
I've been traveling a bunch this quarter and haven't taken the time to trouble shoot the voice channel issue with CS. I'm mostly on my laptop anyway and X-Lite works ok.

Were I married, I'd be divorced by now over this.

I'm on a month-to-month plan. I considered signing up for their 2-year plan. Probably not after seeing these reviews and since both of my ATAs don't simply work perfectly.

Just to stress this - the free SIP client "X-Lite" has always worked perfectly regardless of my ATA hardware (except toll free calling on the old server).
With that SIP client working (Linux and WinXP versions), I can't rule out ATA hardware problems. That's the only reason I haven't canceled my service. With other providers, a software SIP client costs extra.

My Nokia N800 won't connect to VoipGO over SIP and the more I travel internationally, the more I would like this to work for inbound calls when in hotels in the evenings.
