SPIRIT Voice Software Goes into Skype IP-phone

SPIRIT DSP (www.spiritDSP.com/voip), the world's leading provider of embedded voice and communication software products, announced that Trinity Convergence, Inc., provider of VoIP software framework to manufacturers of consumer electronics and telecommunications equipment, has licensed and deployed SPIRIT's award-winning voice processing software. Trinity licensed SPIRIT's low-MIPS high-quality voice processing products running on ARM9 and MIPS processors into its famous VeriCall family of embedded software frameworks. Trinity VeriCall software is using SPIRIT vocoders since 2005.

"SPIRIT's voice processing and voice enhancement solutions are renowned by the global industry as having the highest voice quality along with the lowest power consumption. As such, they are ideally suited for VoIP over WiFi and 3G in mobile devices that support either Skype-protocol or SIP industry standard for call establishment. SPIRIT has recently released a new upgraded and advanced version of the voice product that had been earlier integrated by Trinity into its VeriCall framework," said Slava Borilin, VP Product Marketing of SPIRIT DSP. "TeamSpirit Mobile is now the world's most compact voice engine for mobile devices; it incorporates a complete voice engine (including high-end full-duplex AEC, noise canceller, PLC, jitter buffer and vocoders) that can run on a 200 MHz processor. We are glad to have provided our vocoders to Trinity Convergence in 2004, as now we have joint deployments of that product. A new enhanced version of the mobile voice engine is currently available directly from SPIRIT."

Skype has recently showcased a new P2P desktop IP-phone designed by Universal Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd. (USI). This Skype-protocol-based VoIP desktop phone uses the VeriCall framework from Trinity Convergence and SPIRIT vocoders running on the Intel PXA270 processor. Trinity and SPIRIT have also recently signed a revenue-sharing sublicensing agreement, allowing Trinity to re-sell SPIRIT vocoders.

The desktop P2P IP-phone from Universal Scientific brings you Skype user experience without connecting to a PC. The phone supports Skype to Skype calling, SkypeOut (to call landline and mobile phones); SkypeIn (to receive calls from landline and mobile phones); and Skype Voicemail. The phone is compact, elegant, and boasts a large color LCD screen for presence and contacts management.

SPIRIT embedded voice and communication products have been known and licensed worldwide by over 200 OEMs and software vendors during the last 10 years. SPIRIT's voice engine flavors are specifically targeted at enterprise collaboration media servers and clients running under Windows, Linux and Mac OS, as well as optimized for mobile phone OEMs using ARM, MIPS and xScale processors.
