Acrobits Releases Christmas Update Packed with New Features, Including SRTP

Acrobits_logo.pngAcrobits released the latest update to their popular iPhone SIP clients Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire this week. Included are some exciting new features including SRTP and a simplified Google Voice interface.

Especially significant to business VoIP users is the addition of SRTP. Acrobits’ clients support both SDES and ZRTP. For those less familiar with VoIP, SRTP encrypts the audio of your VoIP calls. This is an important feature for executives that may need to discuss sensitive matters over the phone. ZRTP is the latest technology for SRTP and provides extended protection against man-in-the-middle attacks (eavesdropping). Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire are the first and only iPhone softphones that support it. The addition of support for SRTP in Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire once again displays Acrobits’ dedication to providing the most reliable, versatile SIP Clients available on mobile devices.

But that’s not all. Acrobits’ Christmas update also adds the following great features.
  • Simplified Google Voice interface – with your list of forwarding phones automatically imported into Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire, adding your Google Voice account has never been easier.
  • GSM call interruption behavior – as any VoIP user on the iPhone knows, VoIP calls will be interrupted by incoming calls on the native GSM phone. Acrobits Softphone and Groundwire now allow you to record a message for playback to the other party on your VoIP call when this happens.
  • Call quality indicator – see the quality of your network connection in realtime.
And Acrobits still has many improvements to come. Their next update promises a new feature that should resolve many network issues arising from using VoIP over 3G.
