Better Support for VoIP Throughout the U.S.

Virtela, the global network solutions company, announced that IFC Credit Corporation, a leading provider of commercial financing services, is using Virtela's managed MPLS Virtual Private Network (VPN) and remote access services to enable all of its employees to exploit high-performance VoIP communications as well as share data and applications across its offices throughout the U.S., including Chicago, Dallas, Irvine, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore.

IFC Credit first selected Virtela one year ago to replace its existing carrier-provided network with a managed IP VPN solution optimized to support an under-performing VoIP system. After Virtela delivered on those requirements, IFC Credit this year decided to upgrade its VoIP phone system, which required enhanced network Quality of Service (QoS) features. IFC Credit selected Virtela to implement an MPLS-based network featuring class of service options that met its new VoIP requirements.

"The network migration with Virtela went flawlessly and the new VoIP system has performed very well with such a stable network foundation," said Jim Norman, CIO of IFC Credit. "From Day One, we've had no glitches, no downtime and no mis-configurations. We have since worked with Virtela to fine-tune our classes of service to heighten the priority for Internet traffic, and VoIP performance remains excellent."

Virtela aggregates and integrates the best local, regional and global networks around the world to offer unparalleled geographic reach. By adding a unique layer of intelligence that performs optimal routing and automatic fail-over between networks, Virtela's multi-carrier Global Service Fabric infrastructure gives enterprises an inherently higher performing, more reliable and cost effective alternative than single carrier networks. Virtela is the single point of contact for expert design, implementation, 24x7 monitoring and management of customer networks. Customers also have access to VirtelaView, a comprehensive customer portal that, for example, enables IFC Credit to obtain detailed network performance reports on jitter and latency -- the metrics most critical to VoIP performance.

In addition to enhanced call quality, IFC Credit anticipates overall savings by moving voice traffic to the MPLS network. The company also leverages Virtela's Secure Remote Access services to enable their remote sales force to access network resources, including the company's intranet, CRM and email applications. These communications are further protected through Virtela's high availability Managed Firewall service, offloading time-consuming monitoring and management to Virtela while maintaining visibility via VirtelaView.

"Virtela prides itself in its speed and flexibility to meet changing customer requirements and IFC Credit is an excellent example," said Virtela CEO Larry Morgan. "We're pleased to be part of a leading edge system initiative that enables IFC to securely exploit technology to deliver solid business benefits."
