Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service!! TWELVE days and my RUSH order is still NOT processed. E-mailed customer service after eleven days, marked it urgent and got no response. Take your business elsewhere. I'm going to Packet 8.

Ordered from ViaTalk on 7/18. Card was charged, and still no equipment. Yesterday my bank was charged the montly payment, and yet I still have NOT recieved equipment. Even with the influx of customers from the sudden shutdown of SR, they shouldn't be this disorganized.
I'm cancelling and taking my business elsewhere.

Terrible service. Our calls seldom go without some droppage...very annoying. Signed up after SunRocket died. SR was great compared to these guys.
e911 still not working but they bill me every month. 2nd line FREE, Ha Ha...$3.95 mo for number for that line...NO cus service response unless you join VIP club more $$$$.
If only they had good service!

Between the negative comments here and the horror stories ob broadband reports.com, I conclude that the glowing 5-star positive ratings on voipmonitor.net, for all providers, is B.S.

Well, they don't totally suck, but they suck enough that you don't want them. I have had a problem with connections for 3 months since switching from a flawless connection with Sunrocket. At first, when Sunrocket went under they had very very very slow response from support. Now it only takes a week to get an answer from support. I still have connection problems - now I'm looking for another provider.

Via – Talk Review
Not perfect but here is why I still rate it a 10 of 10.
My past companies have always paid for 2 phone lines for me – until now. I claimed to use my home number as a fax, so that I never had paid anything. I have been researching for a year or so, to save the company money as they are trying to slash costs like the rest, and hell I hope that we save lots…. My only problem is my need to sometimes to modem into another modem and no one except roadrunner seems to offer that unusual feature. I ended up buying a specialized program for my cell and now using that, but it is cumbersome.
Here is the quantifying factor – it is sometimes not plug and play and takes more maintenance then an expensive landline. For example my wife loves it, but would return it if she had to call support a few times and tweak things herself, she also would be in tremendous debt if not for me.
My new unit arrived DOA, the next one was fine and while testing it for a month, I did lose 1 line, I needed to call tech support and they stepped me right through. Since then I noticed that call block *67 did not work every time, they then fixed it. So far I have been using it for over 2 months trouble free. The quality is very good, I did have to hand up on 2 different calls and called back – and the connection was great. Surprisingly we tested it, having 2 teens at home who seem to always be downloading something, we used both lines, had 3 different computers downloading very large files, during peak times and have NEVER had a problem. I though for sure that our bandwidth would suffer.
Now the clincher. My bills averaged $130 per month after taxes, fees …. I waited for their $200 special for 2 lines for 2 years. Savings of over $2,800 - EASY choice. Even with the $200 you end up paying only $240. I especially hate overpaying on utilities where the politicians get a piece of the action, plus Comcast and Verizon contribute huge amounts of cash everywhere to remain a monopoly. The system is so corrupt and I would next love to replace Comcast and peco electric – someday….
I have read negative reviews on Via-Talks support but they have been great, and I have used them a few times. EVERY time I had a live person who speaks great English, unlike many others. Go Via-Talk !!!!!

They've been awesome. I've been with them over 2 years now. Great quality w/ little to no dropped calls. Customer service was good. We needed it a little in the beginning until everything was setup right and our router was tweaked properly. Everyone spoke perfect english and knew what they were talking about. I get the sense that they are a small shop and the service I got was the kind you get at a smaller business where everyone knows everyone else and what everyone else is up to.

I agree with Dave, have had ViaTalk for 20 months with no problems. Only time I called customer service I had excellent support, very friendly and up-to-date, recognized what I had already tried and didn't make me go though the presumed idiocy steps. Only outage issues are from my internet provider.
Feature set is excellent: custom call ID, call forwarding (when on vacation or extended out of town for work), permanent voicemail, call logging.
Price is superb, $200 for 2 years plus $40 equipment (which is refundable when you cancel if you ship back the part, only regret not buying it for $40 but was in a rush...). They allow current customers to renew under the promotional $199/2 year plan so you can keep your low rate of $11/month (congress hits you for their $2.50/mo).
Yes you have to pay upfront, but compared to what I was paying for the most basic cable phone plan ($25/mo) that is like saying pay 8 months now and get the next 16 months free.
My only gripe about VOIP is with congress taxing it when I am already paying the identical tax for my internet connection.
