JDSU Rolls Out QoS Tools for VoIP, IPTV and Quad-Play

JDSU introduces new IPTV and quad-play enhancements to NetComplete, as well as new features to the PVA-1000, a software component of its service assurance solutions portfolio specializing in VoIP analysis using remote software capture agents. The new additions address the growing network operator demand for in-depth, accurate measurements and end-to-end performance monitoring to ensure quality IPTV, VoIP and other quad-play service delivery.

JDSU will showcase these communications test solutions and participate in related speaking forums at the following upcoming industry events:
  • TelcoTV Conference & Expo 2007, Atlanta, October 23-24, (booth #400) Speaking: Andrew Sachs, JDSU's director of IP Triple-Play Service Assurance Solutions, "Effective IPTV Troubleshooting," Thursday, October 25, 4-5pm
  • Fall VON 2007, Boston, October 23-25 (booth #454) Speaking: Jay Stewart, JDSU's director of corporate IMS strategy, "Putting IMS Interoperability to the Test," Thursday, November 1, 2007, 9-10:15am
JDSU NetComplete Enhancement for IPTV, Quad-Play Service Delivery

Establishing a leading, comprehensive end-to-end service assurance solution for IP-based quad-play service delivery, NetComplete's new features include: support for single and multi-channel program transport streams; simultaneous monitoring of more than 1000 digital video/IPTV transport streams, measuring and calculating key quality indicators; and continuous passive performance monitoring, including the correlation and aggregation of quality metrics providing an end-to-end view across the service delivery chain.

JDSU's NetComplete service assurance system has been acclaimed in industry forums and recognized among service providers around the world, including being named International Engineering Consortium's 2006 InfoVision Award recipient for Access Network Technology and Services, for its role ensuring quality of service and quality of experience for voice, video and data services deployed in Metro Ethernet, wireless and IP-broadband environments. NetComplete consists of powerful QT-hardware and software probes (QT-600, QT-200, QT-50) that operate with industry proven OSS software, NetAnalyst and NetOptimize, with cutting-edge applications for managing service performance and proactively troubleshooting problems.

JDSU PVA-1000's "Auto Capture" Remote Monitoring Vital Technique to Eliminate Poor Calls

JDSU's PVA-1000, a popular and effective software tool providing full analysis of VoIP telephone calls . including jitter, packet loss and audio playback . has been upgraded to include two critical test features that strengthen its ability to perform VoIP test for carriers delivering service in IMS, fixed-mobile convergence environments. The features are compatible with a variety of network service and infrastructure types, including softphones, wireless IMS networks, wireline networks, VPN and Enterprise.

A new Capture Agent now allows the PVA-1000 to monitor multiple calls and generate individual packet capture files for each call that falls below a mean opinion score threshold, a common metric to determine optimal call quality. The resulting capture file can be automatically transferred to a pre- defined server. These capture agents can be placed on switch port analyzer ports, PCs with softphones (PC-based software that converts PC into a telephone) or desktop PCs connected to IP phones. This low-cost flexible deployment combined with fully automated operation makes them ideal for network turn-up, acceptance and troubleshooting applications.

In addition, the PVA-1000 can perform signaling trace, audio playback and full decodes of signaling and media packets, improving the ability for operators to quickly and proactively troubleshoot common errors in VoIP performance such as delay and echo.
