Xelor Software Vice President to Speak at Internet Telephony East 2006

Xelor Software announced that Steven Guthrie, vice president of marketing, will speak at Internet Telephony Conference and Expo East 2006, held between Jan. 24 and 27 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on using service quality management to ensure the reliability, performance and quality of enterprise IP telephony (IPT) and Voice over IP (VoIP) systems.

"Enterprises are still experiencing a large gap between the theoretical capabilities of their IP telephony systems and the actual quality of service that their employees and customers are receiving," said Guthrie. "Despite the increasing popularity of IPT, we've found that many enterprises are still experiencing quality issues caused by packet loss, delay, jitter, latency, and the competition for bandwidth between data and realtime applications."

With nearly two decades of management experience in companies leading the convergence of internetworking and telephony, Guthrie brings a unique perspective to the issues experienced by enterprises that are deploying IP voice systems. During his presentation, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26 beginning at 12:30 p.m., Guthrie will explore the range of solutions for quality of service and a new QoS market segment known as Service Quality Management (SQM).

"Many enterprises are unaware of the recent advances in service quality management that offer IP telephony quality that meets or surpasses traditional circuit-switched voice," continued Guthrie.

The presentation will be particularly appropriate for enterprises that are installing new IPT or VoIP systems or attempting to optimize their existing systems. By unleashing the network infrastructure, enforcing a centralized quality of service policy, and proactively controlling network resources, new SQM solutions help enterprises achieve the economic benefits of IPT and VoIP while maintaining the quality long associated with circuit-switched PBX systems and networks.
