One of the worst telephone company in the world took seven months to port my # in and and 3 months so far porting my # out. When you call customer service its always answered outside of the US where the they dont have the # to transfer you back to the US (not to mention half of them dont understand what you are saying). Hopefully my half million dollar lawsuit will teach vonage a lil better business ethics.

I've used vonage for almost 3 years. When I first got it, it was a fairly good deal. However, over the last year or so, their taxes and add on "junk fees" have increased to around 30% of my total bill. They went through some growing pains a couple of years ago where about 10% of inbound or outbound calls would not go through. This seems to be solved for the most part, but with many other providers to choose from, I'm currently looking elsewhere.

We used Vonage close to a year now and during this time period, we went THREE (2) modems and still trying to resolve the thrid modem to get our phone working again. Tech support is a JOKE!!!. To my knowledge they have three (3) level of tech supports. The first level of support is your typical "Are you an idiot? Is your modem plug in? " kind of questions. The second line of tech support take you thru many, many, many ways of rebooting the modem. I would also like to add that first and second level of tech support must be located somewhere in East India. When you get thru the third level of support is when you get to speak with someone I think is living in the US and does speak proper English. Like Jack, we're looking elsewhere...
Vonage should be expecting a letter from The BBB sometime soon.

I have used Vonage 3 months now and the only problem was because I had to setup a dry loop (a dedicated data line) for my DSL service. It took my DSL provider (Verizon) nearly a month to correctly set it up. As far as my experience wtih Vonage, it's been great! Excellent phone quality, easy to setup and a terrific website. I'm only incurring 3$ a month in taxes and misc fees, is that excessive??? There are probably cheaper services out there, but I'm satisfied.

I have used Vonage for close to a year and a half, and since then haven't had any serious problems, except that the Linksys WRTP54G router that I got would need a rebooting every once in a while, until it got damage last weekend. Know I'm looking for another device to replace it. Other than that, haven't had any issues with Vonage.

I have been a loyal Vonage customer since 2003, and have referred several friends and family members, but I'm looking for a new provider now. After 30 minutes on the phone to Bangalore last month trying to resolve a billing issue, I was told that a supervisor would call me back.
No-one ever got back to me, so I tried again today. My bill was twice what it has ever been in the past, I had two 35 minute calls that were placed 4 minutes apart. Yup, they charged my for two calls that apparently happened SIMULTANEOUSLY.
There were four calls total that all mysteriously had the exact same length (35 minutes - $11.90 each), and several calls that were "placed" at like 6AM. Trust me when I tell you, I am not a morning person and was not calling anyone at 6AM.
The right thing to do would have been to throw out all the international calls, because the bill is so screwed up that I don't trust any of it. They flat wouldn't do that, and offered only to credit one of the calls that were apparently going on at the same time.
I asked for a supervisor, but "no one is available." Truly rotten service, and a shame. The service is good, but the customer service is not.

Terrible Company!

Vonage is out to rip its customers off. They say no contracts, yet if you try to cancel in the first year, be aware that there is a hefty early cancellation fee (you know, the same penalty you get when you break a contract). The audio quality of the service has also declined as the service has grown. Often times I've had people on the other end who have gotten frustrated and begged me to get a "real phone." You just don't want that kind of VoIP service - find a better provider!!

BE CAREFUL!!! In the event that 'they' determine your useage is more than 'unlimited' they will charge you excesive fees and not even notify you. We got an email stating what they would charge if we didn't cancel the line in 72 hours. I called right away and told them to disconnect the line. After nearly an hour on the phone the guy said all was taken care of... Yeah right! Two days later they moved the number, yes the one I canceled, onto a $99 per month plan! and to top it off they auto billed me for the amount that we specifically said via email and phone we did not want! SAY NO TO VONAGE!

Absolutely the worse customer service ever!! Don't get sucked into Vonage. It has now been almost a month since joining and the phone service is still not working. I've called numerous times, and the story has to be retold. There is no continuity in service from one agent to the next. I'm surprised the company is still in business!

Simply put, It beats AT & T. I have been using Vonage for almost two months now, and had some technical issues at first, but it was resolved by the cusomer service. Now, I have no problems. In fact, by having the Vonage customer service fixing my set up problem, I benefitted the correct set up for my cable modem and the wireless router and the Vonage box. I do not have any service intruption. As far as the savings, I was being charged three to five times more per month for fees that I could not understand, they are the biggest rip offs. No one can understand AT & T bills. Thanks Vonage, so far so good.

I went to sign up this evening and on the $14.99 page it has a button to get one month free, it would not let me get the $14.99 amount by pushing that button, definately misleading to the customer. THAT Bites, and I would never do business with a company that is so obviously misleading, who knows what else they are misleading their customers about.

I was with Vonage about 3 years ago. I had problems with the quality of calls both inbound and outbound. Words were dropped during conversations on both sides. So after many attempts to correct the problem I went with another VOIP company "Speakeasy" and they were great! I did not have very many problems during my tenure with them only occasionally where the download/upload speed had dropped below what they termed as optimum quality and they quickly remedied the problem. I am currently no longer with Speakeasy as they can not provide service to where I recently moved.
Thanks for listening and good luck in finding your VOIP providers.

This is probably the worst VOIP provider out there. Watch all their small print and read the BBB complaints. They have over 1000 complaints at any given time.
