Look out Skype, its ineen

Free VoIP, make and receive IP Telephony calls. ineen has a laundry list of features which include voice, video, instant messaging, and most important - free. It is definitely a viable alternative to Skype and it has a nice interface. It is also available for Windows and Mac OS X. Try it out, its pretty nice!

For those interested in offering their own simliar product, ineen was built using Xten's eyeBeam SDK.

Combining WiFi, Skype, and Free!

TechNewsWorld released an article about how Skype (a free online voice over net service) and Broadreach Networks (who provides WiFi hotpots in the UK) are teaming up to offer free hotspot calls in the UK.

Though mobile WiFi VoIP is nowhere nearly as robust as a typical cell-phone you can bet it will be one day.

Skype tests text messaging

Skype has added the ability to send text messages to cell phones while using VoIP. Before this users could only recieve messages but now the gap is being closed between all forms of communication.

Keep your eyes open! Soon we will be able to use a single interface to  contact someone - blending phone, IM, email, fax, etc.
