Starling announces that MIJET has achieved record performance for high bandwidth Web accessibility, VoIP communications and video conferencing. The MIJET antenna system was installed on a Boeing 737 aircraft and successfully completed a set of flight tests involving a multi-user environment. CyberData Introduces New VoIP Zone Controller

CyberData announces the release of its new VoIP Zone Controller, 4-Port Audio-Out. The Zone Controller is a SIP-endpoint that enables access to analog paging speakers through a VoIP phone system. Each of the 4 audio outputs is designed to interface with a standard analog paging amplifier. VoIP Cable Modems for Comcast Digital Voice Service

Thomson announces an agreement with Comcast to begin purchasing Thomson’s VoIP cable modems to support Comcast’s continued rollout of its Comcast Digital Voice service. As a long-term supplier of data-only cable modems to Comcast, the agreement strengthens Thomson’s relationship with the leading operator beyond the current provision of pure cable modems.

Comcast will use Thomson’s DHG535 eMTA to connect its customers to both Comcast Digital Voice and Comcast High-Speed Internet through one integrated device. It allows Thomson to further address the worldwide market for eMTAs, which will be worth about 650 M euros this year alone according to market research firm Dell’Oro.

Ooma to Offer Free Domestic Phone Calls

A Silicon Valley startup wants to shake up the telecommunications industry with a $399 device that provides free, unlimited domestic phone calls for homes with broadband Internet service. Ooma will also offer a free second line, conference calling, voice mail service and an online lounge where users may change their preferences or get voice mail in an e-mail format. The company will start selling the devices Thursday with an invitation-only offer to select U.S. residents.

The company backed by $27 million in venture capital eventually hopes to crack the home-based and small-business niches. Engineers are working on a system that forwards calls to cellular phones.
