Ooma Expands HD Voice Technology to Mobile Calling

Ooma_logo.gifOoma announces the Ooma Mobile High-Definition Application is now available for purchase by Ooma customers with Android phones via the Android Market. The company also announced that the Ooma Mobile app previously available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad has been upgraded to include Ooma’s HD Voice technology.

The Ooma Mobile HD app offers Ooma customers the ability to save money on their mobile calling plans with improved convenience, functionality and outstanding voice quality with Ooma PureVoiceTM HD technology. With the app, Ooma customers can use their Ooma account to make domestic and international calls from Android or Apple iOS devices over any Wi-Fi or 3G network. This allows users to bypass the high cost of domestic and international calling associated with mobile calling plans from major carriers.

The Ooma Mobile HD App offers HD Voice, a component of Ooma PureVoice HD technology, delivering twice the fidelity of standard phone calls for a richer, more natural sounding conversation between Ooma customers. Ooma Mobile HD is one of the first mobile VoIP offerings in the United States to support HD Voice technology. Since October 2010, Ooma Telo customers have been enjoying HD calls at home, and the addition of HD support on the Ooma Mobile HD App allows them to take this enriched calling on the go via a wide array of mobile devices.

The Ooma Mobile HD Application is available for download in the Android Market and iTunes App Store for $9.99. Mobile calling minutes on Ooma Mobile HD start at just 1.9 cents per minute in the U.S. or less than half a penny per minute when you sign up for a mobile calling plan from Ooma. Ooma Premier customers using Ooma Mobile receive 250 minutes of free U.S. calling every month. In addition, Ooma offers low rates and calling plans for international calls. Use of the Ooma Mobile HD app requires an Ooma account.

Current users of the Ooma Mobile App can visit the iTunes App Store to download a free upgrade.

As part of today’s announcements, Ooma is unveiling a mobile-optimized version of “My Ooma.” Customized to work on mobile browsers, Ooma customers can easily access and listen to voicemails, check phone logs, lookup contacts, change preferences and check international calling balances – all from their smart phone.
