Single-Chip VoIP Solution to Embed Two SLICs and Ethernet Switch

ESS Technology announces the ES9701 as the newest member of its VoIP product line. First in the industry to embed two Subscriber Line Interface Circuits (SLICs) and an Ethernet switch, the ES9701 brings the highest integration and lowest bill of materials to consumer VoIP adapters and IP phone applications.

The ES9701 includes all the necessary processors and peripherals for full-featured VoIP phone applications:
  • 32-bit RISC processor for the operating system, control and signaling
  • 32-bit DSP for voice codecs such as G.711, G.722, G.726 and G.729A/B
  • Two SLICs with three sets of audio DACs and ADCs for connection to phone, fax and handset
  • Ethernet switch with two 10/100 MAC/PHYs for WAN/LAN connections
  • AES encryption security module
  • LCD display and keypad controller
  • SDIO interface for WiFi module
To enable quick time-to-market for customer product development, the ES9701 comes with a VoIP phone/adapter reference design complete with voice codecs, SIP protocol stack, all necessary drivers, and a software development tool chain.

The ES9701 is sampling now in 176-LQFP package with a VoIP adapter reference design kit priced at $700.

The ES9701 will be demonstrated January 8 – 11, 2009 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at the Hilton.
