Verizon Adds SIP Gateway Outbound Service to VoIP Portfolio

Verizon FreedomVerizon wholesale customers can now enjoy quicker service turn-up, simplified network configuration, expanded calling options and increased flexibility when ordering. These benefits are provided by Verizon Business' newly introduced SIP Gateway Outbound Service.

This latest addition to the company's VoIP product suite uses virtual rather than traditional physical trunking, enabling faster initiation of service, faster changes in capacity and faster long-distance call processing.

Jim Tyrrell, vice president of voice product management for Verizon, said, "As the VoIP market becomes more mature, we're broadening and strengthening our VoIP product offerings. SIP Gateway Outbound Service is another step toward enabling our wholesale VoIP customers to benefit from increased productivity, efficiency and convenience."

SIP Gateway Service Outbound also adds the security mechanism Remote Party ID as an accepted signaling configuration to the P-asserted ID signaling configuration, which is already available.

In addition to SIP Gateway Outbound Service, Verizon Business SIP Gateway Services are available in three other configurations: Inbound Complete, Two-Way Local and Two-Way Complete. Since Verizon launched its wholesale VoIP products in 2005, growth of VoIP minutes has reached billions of minutes annually.
