NewStep Networks at ITU World Telecom 2006

NewStep Networks announced that it will demonstrate its ability to deliver seamless Voice Call Continuity between cellular/Wi-Fi networks, and between mobile, fixed, and soft phones at ITU Telecom World 2006 in Hong Kong. This demonstration confirms NewStep’s capability to commercially deliver valuable services across fixed and mobile networks in order to meet the growing demand for converged services from service providers and enterprises alike.

NewStep’s demonstration will show the company’s standards-compliant Voice Call Continuity solution, Dual-Mode Handoff, which allows subscribers to make and receive calls on cellular/Wi-Fi phones using presence-based call routing and with seamless handover between cellular and Wi-Fi networks without any interruption in the voice call. The dual-mode solution leverages hosted VoIP and enterprise-based IP PBX capabilities together with mobile GSM, UMTS, CDMA, and WiMAX networks to deliver a unified communications experience.

“Service providers are looking for ways to deliver higher value services that integrate the enterprise and mobile calling environments while at the same time providing alternatives for key customers to control their overall communications costs,” said David Bridge, vice-president Asia-Pacific for NewStep Networks. “NewStep’s solutions enable service providers to not only give their customers the freedom to control their communications experience, moving calls from mobile handsets to their home or office phones and back again with the push of a button, but we also give customers the freedom to switch seamlessly between wireless technologies such as cellular, Wi-Fi, and whatever is next—taking advantage of cost and coverage benefits in real time.”

NewStep will also demonstrate their platform’s ability to deliver call continuity between fixed videophones and mobile devices, and to move ongoing calls from any device to another, all while keeping the conversation going. These One Button Transfer capabilities can be deployed today, using existing mobile handsets without any client software, and complement NewStep’s ability to deliver single number, extension dialing, and single voicemail across existing mobile and enterprise networks.

NewStep’s award-winning service convergence solutions enable differentiated fixed-mobile services across cellular, VoIP or traditional fixed networks, as well as enterprise networks, and can be launched in today’s environment, or be part of an IMS network deployment.
