Mutually-Anonymous Phone Communication by Jangl

Jangl, announced that its first service -- which enables mutually-anonymous communication on the phone -- is now available to all U.S. consumers.

Separately, Jangl and Match.com announced an agreement under which Jangl enables that site's new matchTalk offering, a new Match.com service that provides its members even more control by allowing them to use their mobile or landline phones to talk with other members without compromising their privacy.

Key Facts About the Jangl Service
  • A Jangl ID -- available for free at Jangl.com -- allows consumers to get an unlimited number of unique, private phone numbers as desired, each of which is shared between them and another individual.
  • Jangl's "relationship-based" phone numbers keep both parties' private information totally protected, and each number functions like any other: numbers can be saved to a contact list, assigned special ringtones, and more. Further, a shared Jangl number allows both parties to screen calls, view contact and call details at Jangl.com, or permanently block the other party from contacting them.
  • Once a consumer has a Jangl ID, they can use the Jangl widget in any online venue to connect their web presence to their telephone. The widget or simple URL link allows consumers to publish their Jangl ID in blogs, social networking profiles, online personal or classified ads, email signatures, via instant message, and more.
  • Jangl works with any phone (mobile, landline, or VoIP-based) and any service provider or telephone company. There is nothing to download or install.
  • Consumers can join Jangl and contact Jangl members by visiting Jangl on the web; by clicking on a Jangl web widget, available free to Jangl subscribers; or, by simply sharing their Jangl ID offline.
  • Jangl will continue to upgrade its current service, and expects to enable additional modes of communication and sign-up in coming months.
  • While the service is free for now, Jangl expects it to become a fee-based service in 2007.
Key Facts About Jangl
  • Today's announcement highlights the first in a planned series of Jangl services and features fundamentally designed to offer people greater control and freedom when using their phones.
  • Jangl's service -- which has been available privately, and in limited form, since April 2006 -- has seen significant adoption by consumers who use it online and offline for dating, socializing, and networking for both personal and professional purposes.
  • Today's announcement, as well as Jangl's agreement with Match.com, comes less than one year after Jangl secured its first round of venture capital funding.
  • Jangl's business strategy is to provide communications services to consumers both directly, and also via partnerships with online communities.
What Jangl is Saying
