MediaRing Launches WiMAX Service in Cambodia

Mainboard-listed MediaRing Limited (www.mediaring.com), the leader of pure-play VoIP telephony service providers in Asia, gains greater momentum in IndoChina. MediaRing announced the official launch of AngkorNet at the Cambodia ICT World Expo 2006, held in Phnom Penh from the 4th to 6th May 2006.

Of significance, AngkorNet is the first Internet Service Provider ("ISP") in Cambodia to offer tiered and bundled packages of high-speed Internet access and other data applications using new WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) technology. AngkorNet delivers up to 90% WiMAX coverage in Phnom Penh.

ISP AngkorNet is the registered brand of Cambodia Data Communication Company Ltd ("CDC"), a joint venture between MediaRing and Cambodia-based Anana Computer Ltd. MediaRing holds a 40% stake in CDC. Located in Phnom Penh, CDC is a whole-sale carrier that provides telecommunications services and holds an ISP license from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Cambodia ("MPTC"). Through AngkorNet, CDC is one of only a handful of carriers authorised to provide Internet services in Cambodia.

Said Mr Khaw Kheng Joo, Chief Executive Officer of MediaRing, "With a population of approximately 15 million people, Cambodia has a relatively low telecommunications penetration rate and only a handful of carriers authorized to provide Internet services. With the launch of AngkorNet and WiMAX services, MediaRing, as well as our partner, Anana Computer Ltd, is well-positioned to tap on the growth potential that Cambodia's telecommunication sector offers."

"AngkorNet service is Instant Internet. You just take the wireless modem and plug it into your computers. It's as simple as that. Cambodia's customers currently using the services are amazed by the speed and the simplicity of getting on-line. They love the fact that the modem unit is so portable," said Ms Channda Sok, Chief Executive Officer for CDC.
